LAS ALETAS

Las Aletas, or “Little Wings”, was formed in 1964 as an Auxiliary of Assistance League of of Santa Barbara, a chapter of National Assistance League. Members of Las Aletas volunteer their time and talents to serve the greater Santa Barbara community. Las Aletas manages three philanthropic programs. In addition, we help the chapter by staffing the Assistance Thrift Shop.

Kids On The Block

Explores important social and safety issues to school aged children

Operation Bookshelf

Provides reading opportunities to homebound seniors

Operation School Bell

Provides new clothings, books, toiletries, and school supplies to school age children and preschoolers combined together

ASSISTEENS ®

An auxiliary formed by the National Assistance League in the 1930’s, provides teenagers opportunities to serve those in need. Locally, our auxiliary formed in 2006. Boys and girls enrolled in middle school and high school. The group of enthusiastic teens develop their own philanthropic and fundraising programs. They also offer support to the chapter’s 16 philanthropic programs. The auxiliary provides and opportunity for members to complete community service hours required for graduation and develop skills and experience that reflect positively on college admissions applicatons.
