ASSISTEENS ®
A national auxiliary formed in the 1930s, provides teenagers with opportunities to serve those in need, develop a sense of responsibility and community spirit and learn leadership skills. Our chapter formed an Assisteens auxiliary in January, 2006, composed of boys and girls currently enrolled in middle and high school. The group’s enthusiastic boys and girls develop their own philanthropic and fundraising programs, as well as offering support to the chapter’s 16 philanthropic programs. The auxiliary provides an opportunity for members to complete community service hours required for graduation and develop skills and experience which reflect favorably on their college applications.
GETTING INVOLVED
We are now accepting applications for the next school year. To Join you must be enrolled in middle school, high school, or the home school equivalent.
Handmade Lotion Fundraiser
The Assisteens make and sell fragrant and luscious lotion during the holiday seasons to raise funds to put on this wonderful event each year. The teen members make corsages and boutonnieres for the Guests and themselves. We have dance instructors form Santa Barbara Dance Center come and teach the teens as well as the guests some fun steps so they can get out and dance with each other. A fun oldtimer band plays period music which suits the Seniors’ era. The teens and the seniors look forward to and enjoy this annual event!
