“Faux Prom” for Seniors

Our newest philanthropic program is designed to entertain and provide social activities in a “Faux Prom” dance atmosphere at the Wood Glen Hall senior residence. The Assisteens make and sell fragrant and luscious lotion during the holiday seasons to raise funds to put on this wonderful event each year.

The teen members make corsages and boutonnieres for the guests and themselves. We have dance instructors from Santa Barbara Dance Center come and teach the teens a few simple dance steps, as well as how to carefully dance with someone who may be physically challenged. Then they can comfortably get out and dance and socialize with each other. We always bring in a fun “oldtimer” band to play period music which suits the Seniors’ era. The teens and the seniors look forward to and enjoy this annual event!
