Santa Barbara Smiles

Established in 2005, Santa Barbara Smiles serves approximately  1000 children and 600 adults each year. Santa Barbara Smiles provides dental health education for low-income children and adults in Santa Barbara at the Eastside Family Dental Clinic. Member volunteers are trained to discuss good dental hygiene and nutrition with families in half-hour sessions. Assistance League member volunteers provide dental hygiene kits at the clinic and at school-based health fairs sponsored by the County Public Health Department. At the end of the year we have a celebration for all participants who have had no cavities between visits during the year.
