Las Aletas Auxiliary

Las Aletas, or "Little Wings", was formed in 1964 as an Auxiliary of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara, a chapter of National Assistance League.  Members of Las Aletas volunteer their time and  talents to serve the greater Santa Barbara community.  Las Aletas manages three philanthropic programs. Kids on the Block; explores important social and safety issues through puppet presentations to school aged children, Operation Bookshelf; Provides reading opportunities to homebound seniors, Operation School Bell; provides new clothing, books, toiletries and school supplies to school age children and preschoolers. In addition we help the chapter by staffing the Assistance League Thrift Shop.

Assisteens® Auxiliary

An auxiliary formed by National Assistance League in the 1930s, provides teenagers with opportunities to serve those in need, develop a sense of responsibility and community spirit and learn leadership skills. Our chapter formed  an Assisteens auxiliary in January, 2006, composed of boys and girls currently enrolled in middle and high school. The group’s enthusiastic boys and girls develop their own philanthropic and fundraising programs, as well as offering support to the chapter's 16 philanthropic programs. The auxiliary provides an opportunity for members to complete community service hours required for graduation and develop skills and experience which reflect favorably on their college applications.
